2018 Football Team Rankings

2018 Football Team Rankings

Support and FAQStubHubShop2018 Football Team Rankings Last updated on 12/16/18 at 8:20 PM CSTThe Formula where c is a specific team's total number of commits and Rn is the 247Sports Rating of the nth-best commit times 100. Explanation In order to create the most comprehensive Team Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Team Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Rating. Each recruit is weighted in the rankings according to a Gaussian distribution formula(a bell curve), where a team's best recruit is worth the most points. You can think of a team's point score as being the sum of ratings of all the team's commits where the best recruit is worth 100% of his rating value, the second best recruit is worth nearly 100% of his rating value, down to the last recruit who is worth a small fraction of his rating value. This formula ensures that all commits contribute at least some value to the team's score without heavily rewarding teams that have several more commitments than others.Readers familiar with the Gaussian distribution formula will note that we use a varying value for σ based on the standard deviation for the total number of commits between schools for the given sport. This standard deviationcreates a bell curve with an inflection point near the average number of players recruited per team.Below is a graphical representation of how our formula works. You can see that the area under the curve gets smaller both as the rating for a commit decreases and as the number of total commits for a school increases. The y-axis in this graph represents the percentage weight of the score that gets applied to an overall team ranking. 201820212020201920182017201620152014201320122011201020092008200720062005200420032002200120001999FootballFootballBasketballClass CalculatorTeam Ranking using data only from 247Sports Player Ratings ALLACCBig-12Big-TenPac-12SECAACC-USAInd.MACM-WestSBCRank Team Total 5-stars 4-stars 3-stars Avg Points 1 1 Georgia26 Commits93.00 5-Star 7 4-Star 11 3-Star 8 310.912 2 Ohio State26 Commits93.81 5-Star 2 4-Star 21 3-Star 3 303.263 3 Texas27 Commits91.07 5-Star 3 4-Star 13 3-Star 10 287.344 4 USC18 Commits93.72 5-Star 4 4-Star 10 3-Star 4 285.535 5 Alabama22 Commits91.32 5-Star 3 4-Star 13 3-Star 5 282.766 7 Clemson17 Commits92.71 5-Star 5 4-Star 7 3-Star 4 276.107 6 Penn State23 Commits90.83 5-Star 2 4-Star 11 3-Star 10 275.988 9 Oklahoma23 Commits90.65 5-Star 2 4-Star 12 3-Star 9 273.959 10 Notre Dame27 Commits89.59 5-Star 0 4-Star 11 3-Star 16 261.4210 8 Miami23 Commits89.35 5-Star 0 4-Star 11 3-Star 11 260.2211 15 LSU22 Commits90.14 5-Star 2 4-Star 11 3-Star 9 256.4412 12 Auburn23 Commits89.74 5-Star 0 4-Star 13 3-Star 10 255.1713 16 Washington20 Commits90.45 5-Star 0 4-Star 11 3-Star 9 252.3214 11 Florida State21 Commits89.90 5-Star 0 4-Star 12 3-Star 9 251.5415 17 Texas A&M23 Commits89.35 5-Star 0 4-Star 12 3-Star 11 251.0616 19 UCLA27 Commits88.07 5-Star 0 4-Star 10 3-Star 17 249.8717 13 Oregon24 Commits88.29 5-Star 0 4-Star 10 3-Star 13 247.8318 14 Florida20 Commits89.55 5-Star 0 4-Star 12 3-Star 8 246.5519 18 South Carolina22 Commits88.68 5-Star 1 4-Star 7 3-Star 14 239.4320 22 Michigan19 Commits88.63 5-Star 1 4-Star 5 3-Star 13 229.7021 24 Virginia Tech26 Commits87.31 5-Star 0 4-Star 7 3-Star 18 229.0422 20 North Carolina22 Commits87.41 5-Star 1 4-Star 4 3-Star 17 226.9723 25 TCU25 Commits86.96 5-Star 0 4-Star 5 3-Star 20 225.7724 26 N.C.
