Submit URLs to Bing
Submit URLs to BingSubmitting a URL from your website can be an important first step to being indexed. Webmasters can do that using the Submit URLs feature in the Configure My Site section in Bing Webmaster Tools or through the Submit URL API. This feature is a faster way to tell Bing about your new or updated URLs and allows you to submit upto 10,000 URLs per day for immediate crawl and indexation which varies from domain to domain. There is no upper limit on the number of URLs that can be submitted in a month. The daily quota per site is determined based on the site verified age in Bing Webmaster tool, site impressions and other signals about the site available to Bing. Currently the limits based on site verified age are-Site verified age <=1 day = 10 URLs per daySite verified age <=7 day = 250 URLs per daySite verified age <=30 day = 1000 URLs per daySite verified age <=180 day = 10000 URLs per day Submit URLs through Bing Webmaster ToolsTo submit URLs using the Submit URL feature, simply add 1 URL per line and click Submit. The URLs are immediately evaluated for search indexation and when quality criteria are met, they will begin to surface in Bing search. This is very useful in helping get important content indexed quickly. The number of submissions on a day and the remaining quota for a site can be checked in the Submit URL feature. The list of submitted URLs in the page will show the latest 1000 URLs submitted by the webmaster. The Submit URLs feature in Webmaster Tools is currently restricted to root domains only and will not accept the submission of subdomains. If there are sites mapped to sub-domain then quota is allocated at domain level and not at sub-domain level. Submit URLs through Bing Webmaster APIWebmasters can also use Submit URL API offered as part of Bing Webmaster API. Programmatically getting the remaining quota is also possible through the Get URL Submission Quota API.

How to Submit Sitemaps
SitemapsSitemaps are an excellent way to tell Bing aboutURLs on your site that would be otherwise hard to discover by our web crawler. There are several formats you can use as Sitemaps to submit to Bing: XML SitemapRSS 2.0Yahoo! mRSS and Bing mRSS (Media RSS)Atom 0.3 & 1.0Text (a plain text file containing one URL per line)Submit Sitemaps to BingYou have a few options to submit sitemaps to Bing: By advertising the sitemap in your robots.txtfile using a Sitemap: directiveBy pinging Bing using a HTTP requestFrom inside your Bing Webmaster Toolsaccount, either directly from the Sitemap widget on your site’s Dashboard or fromwithin the full-fledged Sitemaps featureWe will get back to the first twooptions later. First, let’s look at how to submit and manage sitemaps fromwithin your Bing Webmaster Tools account: Submitting Sitemaps from your DashboardYou can submit your sitemapfrom within the Dashboard for your site in Webmaster Tools. Look for theSitemaps widget and click Submit a Sitemap to show a text box inwhich you can enter the location of your sitemap file.Usually, the sitemap location willlook something like http:www.contoso.com/sitemap.xml if it is an XML Sitemap or http://www.contoso.com/sitemap.txt if you’ve created a text file instead.Either type will work equally well. If you have an RSS feed that is automatically updated as you publish yourcontent it can also be submitted here. This is useful as it will help uscapture fresh content every time you publish content. Simply copy and pastethe URL for your RSS feed into the submission form and click Submit. Submitting Sitemaps from the Sitemaps FeatureIn addition to submitting sitemapsfrom your Dashboard, you can submit and manage your sitemaps in Sitemapsfeature inside Webmaster Tools located in the Configure My Site sectionin the navigation pane. In Sitemaps, you can submit a sitemap asfollows:Enter the full URL of the sitemap in the Submit a Sitemaptext boxClick SubmitAfter you have submitted, the sitemap will be added to the list of sitemaps. Initially the status will be Pending. After Bing has fetched and processed the sitemap, we will update the status andthe other details such as how many URLs we discovered while highlighting anyissues encountered. If you see an exclamation mark in front of a status you can see additional information about an error or issue we encountered by hovering over the icon. Note: processing submitted sitemaps takes time and can takefrom a few hours up to a few days. ResubmitYou can resubmit an already submitted sitemapby selecting the checkbox in front of the sitemap URL and clicking Resubmit. XML Sitemap IndexesIf the sitemap URL you submitted points to an a XML Sitemap Index, you can click on the Sitemap URL and see details for all containedsitemaps. Using a Sitemap: Reference in Robots.txtYou can also leave a reference toyour sitemap in your site’s robots.txt file. To do so, simply add the followingline to your robots.txt, replacing the example sitemap location with thelocation of your sitemap or sitemap index: Sitemap: http://www.example.com/sitemap.xmlFor more information on robots.txtfiles, please refer to robotstxt.org. Pinging Bing Using a HTTP requestIf you have an automated system that generatesyour sitemap, you may find it easier to inform Bing about your sitemap bysending a HTTP request. Using your favorite method to send the request, use thefollowing URL, replacing the example with your sitemap location and URLencoding everything behind the sitemap parameter: http://www.bing.com/ping?sitemap=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.example.com/sitemap.xml The server will respond with HTTP Status 200(OK) if the submission was successful. Unlike the submission options insideWebmaster Tools you will not get any information about the validity about theactual sitemap itself.
