I asked that they replace any rotten wood on the sill and the entire old metal frame. They included this extra work, at a higher installation price. During the kitchen installation I was able to see that the sills were not rotten and that all the metal frame was removed. When I had Home Depot do a second job for a bedroom window, I was given an estimate. When I requested the rotten wood sill replacement and the entire metal frame replacement, the installation price went up by about $350. When Home Depot did the 2nd installation, they did not remove any sill wood, so nobody could tell if the wood was rotten underneath, and they left the metal around the window. When I tried to get a refund of the $350, Home Depot ignored me for months, even though I repeatedly requested the refund. They finally called and said that they did the work on the 2nd installation, which was not true. So, never pay anything extra for installation of a window from Home Depot, because it might never get done, and you cannot get your money back on installation work that was never done. View more

Its location on this page may change next time you visit. Page 1Reviews 1 - 30Stephani of Las Vegas, NVVerified ReviewerOriginal review: Feb. 20, 2019I ordered three windows and one sliding glass door, we stressed that we needed them put in at the same time due to it being cooler, us having 14 month old twins and full time jobs. Home Depot said no problem we just might have to wait longer on the windows because it takes longer for the door to make so we waited and waited... Finally they called to set up a date for installation and all was good until... They arrived! The contractors that come in to install the windows and door got started right away. I was extremely happy until I started talk about the sliding door. The installer stopped me right away and told me that they were not installing the door that day because it was defective. Not only did Home Depot not tell me this but when I called dan (the install manager) he never once returned my phone calls. I finally got in touch with Daniel by calling the service center at Home Depot who had to call him and connect us. He apologized for being too busy to call me back and promised me a $200 give card (that I never received). The phone call ended with him telling me he was going to call the manufacturer and call me right back. After not hearing from Daniel for 3 days I decided to call the Home Depot service center and get ahold of Daniel's boss. Brian got on the phone and despite being extremely rude and inconsiderate he told me I couldn’t cancel my door order. Brian called me back the next day to tell me my door was never reorder and they would give me 25% off if I still wanted to go ahead with the order. Disappointed, dissatisfied is an understatement. It will be hard for me to ever walk into a Home Depot again! Poor poor customer service! View more

Home Depot and Lowe's 10% Military Discount Policy

Home Depot and Lowe's 10% Military Discount Policy

by Ryan Guina, Last updated: January 28, 2019Home Depot and Lowes 10% Military Discount Available Every DayHome Depot and Lowe’s have long been known to offer a 10% military discount to military members, veterans, and retirees on the main military holidays such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Veterans Day. Well, good news – both companies now offer these military discounts every day of the week! Additionally, you may be able to find discounts online at Lowes.com and savings at HomeDepot.com. Military Discount Eligibility: Please read the discount information for each store closely. These discounts may or may not be available to all military veterans on a daily basis. In general, both Home Depot and Lowe’s offer a 10% discount to all currently serving military members with proper military ID, retired military members with ID, and veterans with a service-connected disability rating and VA health care ID card with a service-connected designation. Some veterans have reported being able to receive a discount with a drivers license featuring a veterans designation(this is not always accepted at all locations). Home Depot Military DiscountHome Depot is one of the many companies who offer military discountsyear-round. There is some confusion regarding the Home Depot military discount policy. Below you can find details on Home Depot’s offers to veterans. Home Depot’s 10% Military Discount PolicyAn online customer service rep recently gave me this information about Home Depot military discounts: Year-round: Home Depot’s military discount is offered throughout the year.10% Military Discount: Home Depot’s 10% discount is applicable to purchases with a $500 maximum discount. There are some exclusions, including installation products or services, Gift Cards, special buy appliances, and some commodities, such as building materials. The discount is not available for online purchases.Eligibility – U.S. stores: The discount is offered in the U.S. to all active duty military personnel, reservists, retired or disabled veterans and their immediate families. Veterans who do not have a VA service-connected disability rating may only be eligible for the military discount during national holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day.Military ID: To use Home Depot’s discount, you should present acceptable proof of military service. In fact, you can find even more savings with special Memorial Dayand Veterans Day discounts at retailersand restaurants nationwide. I also contacted a Home Depot customer service rep online and she gave me this response: We proudly offer Active and Veteran military a 10% discount on their online or in-store purchases.  Please contact Online Customer Care at 1-800-430-3376 and place your online order over the phone for an immediate discount or bring your ID to your local Home Depot. However, this may not be used in combination with any other sale prices or discounts. (Editor’s note: Several readers have reported that Home Depot no longer offers the military discount for online purchases.) HomeDepot.com Coupon CodesThe Home Depot offers a variety of sales, some of which may vary by location. So it’s a good idea to check the local advertisements, fliers, and online store for up to date information. The Home Depot also publishes local deals to their website. Click here to view the latest online and in-store promotions at The Home Depot! Lowe’s Military DiscountLike Home Depot, Lowe’s offers veterans a 10% discount through its MyLowe’s program. You can learn more about the promotional program here. Lowe’s 10% Military Discount PolicyLowe’s now offers a 10% military discount to all active duty military members, members of the Guard and Reserve, retired military members and their immediate family members. The 10% Lowe’s discount also applies to veterans who served honorably, as well as and their families. Here is the specific discount information: To receive the Everyday 10% Military Discount, you must: Be currently serving in or a veteran* of the US armed forces or be the immediate family member (Spouses and/or dependent children up to 18 years old). Once the service member signs up for the discount program on Lowes.com, it will be linked to a MyLowe’s card that may also be used by immediate family. and Enroll in the program online. Lowe’s uses a trusted third party to verify eligibility status for online enrollment and may require additional documentation or proof of eligibility. *Veteran includes all individuals who are retired from the US armed forces or who have been discharged (e.g., honorable, under honorable condition, general). Individuals dishonorably discharged or for bad conduct are not eligible to receive a military discount. (source) How to Sign Up for the MyLowe’s ProgramMilitary members and veterans will need to sign up for the MyLowe’s program in order to receive the military discount. Once you sign up for the MyLowe’s program, you can receive the military discount on purchases made in the store, as well as online purchases at Lowes.com. You will need to provide Lowe’s with your name, phone number, and zip code to join the MyLowe’s program. You will also need to verify your military service with e third party company that verifies military service through a contract with the DoD. Once you join the MyLowe’s program, you can link your MyLowe’s account with your phone number, or choose to carry a physical card (it is not a credit card, it’s simply a membership card). The discount applies to in-stock and special-order purchases up to $5,000, but it excludes sales via Lowes.com and purchases of services or gift cards. Keep in mind you may be able to find discounts at the Lowe’s.com website. Just follow the link or click on the banner below to access these deals. The best part is that you can view inventory and complete your order online, then visit the store and pick up the item. That way you don’t waste a trip only to find out they didn’t have your item in stock. Home Depot & Lowe’s Military Discount FAQ’sThere can be some confusion on these military discounts at Home Depot and Lowe’s. So we put together a few answers to the most common questions and concerns we hear from our readers. Who is eligible for the military discount? The offers as explained above do not necessarily include all veterans, 100% of the time. Both The Home Depot and the Lowe’s military discount offers include active duty, Guard/Reserves, retirees, and veterans with a service connected-disability rating (many stores require the veteran to show proof of a service-connected rating, which will appear on the VA health care ID card). The Lowe’s military discount is open to anyone who has served honorably. Some veterans have been able to receive the discount with an alternate form of ID or proof of service, such as a DD 214, or a veterans designation on their drivers license. These alternate forms of ID aren’t officially accepted, so this may be at the discretion of the clerk or the store manager. How to prove military service: Military ID CardVeterans ID CardVA Health Care CardDD Form 214Drivers License with Veterans Designationother ways to prove military serviceAre there exceptions to the discount?Yes. There are certain exceptions and exclusions to the discounts. Some items cannot be discounted due to manufacturer limitations, because they are already on clearance or have other discounts applied, or because they are commodities and the pricing doesn’t allow for discounting. This is common for items such as lumber and drywall, which have very small profit margins. There also may be a total dollar limit for discounts. For example, several commenters have stated the store manager informed them there was a dollar limit for the discount ranging from $50 to $500, depending on the item, store, or location. Some discounts can’t be combined, such as a military discount and a contractor’s discount. Additionally, it appears as though Home Depot may no longer offer the 10% discount for online purchases. Please verify before making your purchase. What if you don’t receive a discount? Some military members and veterans have reported not being able to receive a 10% discount when shopping at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Please check with all the above information and verify the discount applies. You can ask the store manager to see a copy of their military discount policy and ask if there are exclusions for the items you are purchasing. It’s also possible you don’t have the form of ID they accept. Home Depot and Lowe’s both have policies in place regarding which forms of ID are accepted. Clerks can get in trouble or lose their job for accepting the incorrect form of ID, so please don’t put them in an awkward position. Discounts may be hit or miss. At the end of the day, we should appreciate the fact that these companies are making an effort to support our community. If the discount isn’t applied, then please thank them anyway and show these companies our gratitude and appreciation for supporting our community. Shop AroundIf Home Depot or Lowe’s doesn’t honor the military discount, then compare prices with other stores, including playing Home Depot and Lowe’s against each other (they almost always honor coupons and offers from the other store). There are plenty of home improvement couponsavailable from various stores. The key is to look at all of your options to ensure you’re getting the best deals on the products you need.
